Our KC Vacation!

We didn't think we'd be going on vacation this summer, but then my mom ended up offering to take us somewhere. After debating where to go with a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old we decided to stay fairly close to home and go to Kansas City.

We left Saturday morning and headed straight to the Legends area of Kansas City. We had lunch at T-Rex Cafe and shopped around there a bit.

Madison, grandma, and I shopped at Crown Center for a bit Saturday afternoon, and then we headed to Zona Rosa that evening. We had dinner at a pizza place, shopped for awhile, had frozen yogurt, and let the girls play in the fountains while we listened to a band.

We didn't know to bring swimsuits there so the girls
had to play in their clothes. They didn't mind!

Cory is SO impressed with this music!

Sunday we got up and headed to Great Wolf Lodge. We weren't able to check in until later in the afternoon, but they let us use the water park before that. I've been wanting to go to Great Wolf for a long time, but I have to admit that I was not all that impressed. It did not live up to all the hype. We've been to Coco Key here in Omaha several times, and I think Great Wolf is not that much better. It is bigger and has an outdoor pool area, but otherwise it has pretty much the same things as Coco Key. Madison was able to go on all of the water slides with us at Great Wolf, whereas she can't at Coco Key. Overall, the place is not very impressive. The new Triple Twist water slide was closed due to maintenance issues, and a lot of the little things were broken. It seems like they don't take care of the place very well.

Nonetheless we had a fun time. Madison went on one water slide with Cory and me, but she did not like it. She stuck to the little kid water slides the rest of the time. Macy had a great time running from thing to thing. She has no fear and loved the little water slides.

Every night at Great Wolf they have a pajama story time in the lobby. After a full day of swimming, this was a great way to end the day. Macy was not all that interested in the story, but Madison had a good time. Afterward the kids could take pictures with Violet the Wolf. Madison was too scared to get her picture taken.

What a fun day!

The next morning we got up and headed straight to the water park for more swimming and water slides. We stayed for about an hour, but then we had to check out of the hotel. We had lunch and shopped for awhile and then headed back to the water park for awhile before we headed home. The girls had so much on the water slides again. By 3:00 the adults were worn out, and the girls were too, but they were so not ready to leave. We had such a great time!
